ASSISTANT WATER OPERATIONS MANAGER

 

The Assistant Water Operations Manager under the general direction of the Water Operations Manager, plans, organizes, coordinates and directs, through subordinate supervisors, irrigation water deliveries by ditchtenders; supervises, trains and evaluates ditchtender performance; develops and implements water management programs designed to minimize spills and conserve water; assesses need and prioritization of repairs and maintenance of canals, pipelines and other District facilities; monitors the canal systems and pumps within assigned areas and coordinates water flows during both the irrigation and non-irrigation seasons.

Required Education/Experience:  Any combination equivalent to graduation from college with a degree in civil or agricultural engineering, operations management, agribusiness or water science.  Two years of increasingly responsible water management experience including working with automated operations systems, primarily in an agricultural and drainage utility is preferred.

Knowledge:  Principles and practices of engineering, supervision and business management; principles and practices as applied to water management, storage, distribution irrigation and drainage systems.

Salary:  $6,333.34 (80%) to $7,916.67 (100%) + comprehensive benefits package.
