The Oakdale Irrigation District Board of Directors approved a contract to install a solar system to save the District an estimated total of $6,000,000 over the next 30 years.

The project will be located on District-owned property adjacent to OID’s North Side Regulating Reservoir. The project includes the installation of a 500 KW photovoltaic solar system to offset a portion of the District’s energy usage across approximately 50 PG&E service meters at various locations throughout the District.

Construction of the project began this May and will be completed in August 2025. With an estimated average energy savings of $200,000 per year, the return on investment is projected to be just over 4 years. The lifespan of the project is 30 years with an anticipated savings of more than $6,000,000.
